All barrels are factory manufactured by the gun manufacturer, not aftermarket barrels made by some outside company to fit the original shotgun. These are Remington Arms Company factory replacement barrels. Keep your Remington all Remington.

NOTE: LT-20, 20 gauge Lightweight barrels (4400 Series) will not fit pre-1977 20 gauge Lightweight or standard 20 gauge Model 1100 shotguns
Model 870 Barrels with 3" chambers will fit both magnum and 2-3/4" receivers and will handle both 2-3/4" and 3" shells with a magnum receiver. (An M at the end of the serial number = magnum receiver.) Use only 2-3/4" shells when barrels are used on 2-3/4" receivers. 870 Special Field barrels and other model 870 barrels are not interchangeable. The 20-ga. lightweight barrels will not fit 20-ga. standard guns.

The following serial number information is for
Remingtion firearms manufactured after 1921
Remingtons manufactured after 1921 have a code located on the left side of the barrel near the frame that identifies the year and month of manufacture. The following letters correspond to the months of the year, for example B=January, L= February and so on:

Using barrel codes (such as those listed above) to date the manufacture are reliable on Remington rifles, as the company rarely changed barrels on a customer's rifle.
Using these barrel codes to date a shotgun is somewhat unreliable, as shotgun barrels are often interchanged at random. One needs to be sure that the barrel is original to the gun before trusting the Barrel Code listing, above.
(*) On 8/9/99, stopped stamping the barrels with the date code. They continued to mark the date code on the end flap of the shipping box. They resumed stamping the date code on the barrel on 10/1/01.

To keep pace with the increasing popularity of
the company's fully camouflaged shotguns for deer and turkey
hunting, Remington has recently introduced an all camo version of
its Universal Shotgun Scope Mount. The unit is
available alone, or with matching camo rings. For all season,
all terrain concealment, the new mount and rings are both finished
in popular Mossy Oak Break Up camouflage. For maximum versatility,
multiple cross slots atop the mount also allows for the use of other
Weaver type rings and accommodates adjustments for desired eye
relief. Lightweight and easily installed, the universal style mount
is designed to fit all Model 870™, Model 1100™ and Model 11-87™ 2
3/4 inch to 3 1/2 inch chambered shotguns, but is
particularly well suited for mounting scopes
on matching Remington Special Purpose shotguns also finished in
Mossy Oak Break-Up. |
